Past Future Continuous Tense: Pengertian, Pola, dan Contoh Kalimat

Sebelumnya kita sudah membahas tentang past continuous tense nih kan ya? Sekarang waktunya kita bahas tenses selanjutnya yaitu past future continuous tense.

PAST FUTURE CONTINUOUS TENSE

PENGERTIAN: bentuk kata kerja yang digunakan untuk menyatakan aksi yang seharusnya akan sedang terjadi pada waktu tertentu di masa depan.

POLA KALIMAT PAST FUTURE CONTINUOUS

(+) S + Would/Should + be + Ving + O + Adverb

• They would be listening radio at 10:00 AM tomorrow

(-) S + Would/Should + Not + be + Ving + O + Adverb

• They would not be listening radio at 10:00 AM tomorrow

(?) Would/Should + S + be + Ving + O + Adverb?

• Would they be listening radio at 10:00 AM tomorrow?

-? (Grammar) Would/Should + S + Not + be + Ving + O + Adverb?

• Would they not be listening radio at 10:00 AM tomorrow?

(/-?) (Speaking) Would/Should + Not + S + be + Ving + O + Adverb?

• Wouldn’t they be listening radio at 10:00 AM tomorrow?

PENGGUNAAN PAST FUTURE CONTINUOUS TENSE

Untuk menyatakan suatu aktifitas yang akan sedang berlangsung di masa lampau (tidak terjadi).

• Contoh : Madonna would be singing a song at 08:00 p.m last night.

KETERANGAN WAKTU PAST FUTURE CONTINUOUS

• At ……… o’clock yesterday : Pada pukul ….. kemaren
• On Wednesday last week : Pada hari rabu minggu lalu
• By this time yesterday : Menjelang saat seperti ini

CONTOH KALIMAT PAST FUTURE.CONTINUOUS TENSE

1. She would be helping her mother by this time yesterday.

2. They would be talking to the foreigner on Monday last week.

3. We would be listening to the morning news at 07:00 a.m. yesterday.

4. He would be working in the office on Tuesday last weeks

5. My son would be coming late by this time 2 days ago.

6. The woman would be waiting for the bus by this time last week.

** NOTE :

1. Penggunaan Will/Shall

• I, You, They, We, She, He, It, Shita, Cat -》 Will
• I, We -》 Shall (tetapi tidak serinh digunakan)

2. Kadang tidak ada perbedaan meaning dan fungsi baik dari simple future maupun future continuous. Khususnya ketika simple future akan terjadi pada waktu yang tidak terbatas di masa depan.

Contoh:

• A. Don’t get impatient. She will be coming soon
• B. Don’t get impatient. She will come soon.
